I'm not quite sure how that is a "problem" with the example. The reasons for the business decision aren't the point, I'm fully aware of its lack of commercial appeal, but the fact that what they attempted to do with the manga adaption was not entirely feasible. They even had one of the best directors (Shiniciro Watanabe) in the industry, which prevented it from being a disaster, but in the end it was merely a very enjoyable but ultimately flawed classic.

Essentially all I'm saying is that I believe the vision would have been realized with more cours. Whether or not the industry is willing to allocate the necessary resources is well not our prerogative of course. They're going to minimize loss, that's a given. I'm just evaluating the work they're giving us and I think from a story standpoint, more time is all that was needed.

This is an artistic viewpoint, not a cynical businessman's viewpoint.
