If spice and wolf mostly deals with microeconomics, then maoyuu mostly deals with macroeconomics which heavily entwined with politics. The nuance of storytelling is quite different though, and they replace witty dialogues with love trangles
(can't be helped though since unlike spice and wolf, where the protagonist pair is brainy pairs, here, it's the more common brawn and brainy pair)
