I am pretty sure we are meant to see the villain as the honorable one and the protagonist as the dishonorable one who used dirty methods to win.
This entire series is a parody. I am not exactly being serious in this thread...I don't think anyone is.
That being said I am being serious that I prefer ED to DT...so I am on his side whether that's Fair or not.
