His book was definitely one of the better ones that I was forced to read in high school.

I was never a big fan of Catcher, but I certainly appreciate the impact the book had on the world (well, at least the US).

Honestly, and I hate to sound callous, but the first thought I had when I read the news, was that now Salinger would never appear on the Colbert Report...
