The story mode is a bit disappointing so far (not that I expected much from it). It's basically an ultra condensed version of the main plot so far, and I got to the Aqua arc (v16) within minutes.
I went straight for the story mode, so didn't try out versus yet.
And Aqua's voice sounds fine, don't worry.
