I remember Sandaime being considered (or told to become) as Hokage when the two were alive. Unfortunately I don't remember where it was (chapter/episode). Maybe I remember it incorrectly, or maybe it was an anime filler.
Also, is there an information on when they died? I always considered them dying around the same time.
