Well, to be fair, KyoAni seems to be
allergic to any overt PDA in the series they've done. Everything is implied, and even in series where they DO show physical expressions of affection (kissing for example) it's angled in such a way where we don't see any
detail at all (KANON, Haruhi).
That said, I'm perfectly happy with even having implied shows of affection.
