I think that a new series might be a Director's Cut version of R2. So it could be called S2, which would be the intended version for the second season before they were forced to make changes to it in order to reintroduce the characters. I don't think the changes affected the ending itself that much, honestly. The intended version probably adressed dropped plot points, but the last episodes in my opinion were planned from the start.
