As someone else pointed out, 天 is "sky" or "heaven" in Chinese. "Sun" could be 日，阳, or 太阳 depending on the phrase.

Actually when I saw the Chinese subs for EVOL and they used the word 空 for Amata's name I was reminded of a character from Shattered Angles.

Ku Shiwatori from that show also had the word 空 in her name, only the word can also mean "emptiness". In Shattered Angels Ku is the body of the Absolute Angel, which had split into different Angels some time before the beginning of the show. I was wondering if perhaps then Amata might be like a shell, while Kagura is the "soul" of Apollonius/Apollo, but then I realized that there's no official kanji for Amata's name and the kanji 空 is simple what's used in the Chinese fandom, so so much for that theory.
