Lets assume that humans can react fast enough to a swinging sword, I would think that a bigger surface area would allow for a better grip.
But to catch with only two fingers? Against a sword that size?
Sure I get that there are many crazy things in this series (
and many more to come), but some things are way far off the reservations than others.
