I'm more inclined that if she is anyone relevant, that it be a famous person far in the past rather than a goddess.

It really doesn't. From an outsiders point of view, descriptions of both C.C. and Eris would be very similiar.
Having long hare, being very intelligence and having a piercing glare are hardly enough grounds.
