Gundam isn't meant to be true to real life.
It's meant to realistic. Which means that robots have human pilots, military purposes and often aren't TOO overpowered or godlike. There are some exceptions.

What do you mean? You think chimps have their own science? Or maybe bigfoot has an entire race that lives underground and has harnessed nuclear power.
