I don't see how they can skip Rika's introduction because it is her weapons that allow them to fight "them" effectively and it also fleshes out Shizuka-Sensei's character by showing what sort of people are her friends...
Plus it'd be one of the most exciting scenes they could animate from the manga!
Gunfights, jet fuel and explosions!
