A rough summary of the movie. First one for the rough summary with mild spoilers. Second spoiler for the plottwists and the full monty.
Spoiler for Spoilywoily:
Melvin Voyage, who escapes from Central's prison at the beginning of the movie was the one who murdered Julia's parents. He disguises himself as her brother, who supposedly died together with her parents. After gaining her trust, he works together with the Milos guerillas against the military garrison of Table City. But at the end he is only after a secret mechanism built into Table City, which will generate a philosopher's stone if enough blood (two humans seem to be enough) is inserted. After telling Julia that he betrayed her, she is rescued by Al and Ed.
Meanwhile, Creta set it's plan in motion to fill the canyon up with lava from the nearby volcano Poros. Many people live in the canyon, so Ed/Al/Julia (she did swallow the PS after defeating Melvin -> powerup) try to put up some countermeasures. Julia's true brother appears as a Cretan military officer, he survived the assassination back then because he used the PS his parents created during their experiments to heal himself. After escaping from the brink of death, he entered the Cretan military, planning to construct a new world and taking over Creta (your generic bad guy). Julia does not approve of this (she is only interested in Milos' independence), they fight, both are wounded heavily, vomit the PS, get healed, the lava is stopped and so on.
Not sure if the summaries are comprehensible, if you need more info just ask.
What I liked most were the views of Table City, the Canyon, the railway bridges. Although some parts were made with CG, it looks great. It's a fun movie, lots of action, but nothing outstanding. Fits the tone of the TV series, never risked too much and stayed on safe terrain.
A small pamphlet was distributed at the entrance of the cinema (character sketches etc.), containing 19 pages of manga numbered as chapter 45.5.
