Gave this one a try, almost forgot about it.
Spoiler for ep 1:
I don't mind the fact that Gokicha are cockroaches with a somewhat humanoid body (normal cockroaches are in the series, too). What I really don't like is that the story moe~fies cockroaches to Gokicha, yet they don't adjust human perspective on cockroaches or at least differentiate them from Gokicha meaning we technically see a cute girl being killed over and over. What's worse is that the setting keeps her alive and gives her a very human personality with which she actually HELPS other human beings and animals. This is no animal cruelty nor human cruelty, but I still feel this is some kind of fictional cruelty that I personally don't feel comfortable with. Why do we, the audience, see them as cute girls? Why do the in-anime humans see them as normal cockroaches? It doesn't make sense... it doesn't need to but I really wish it did.
What is cute must be treasured. The first episode proved that Gokicha as opposed to normal cockroaches is not a filthy existance at all. I hope she will be able to befriend a human that actually keeps cockroaches as pets. Who am I kidding?
TL;DR
I feel really bad for Gokicha.
It doesn't help that the voice actor is Mamiko Noto and Kugimiya Rie... they're doing this on purpose. >.< Argh!
