I've been wondering... is it possible in the first place to combine a working harem with good romantic developments like the ones Starshipw mentioned? Frankly, I can't see it. Yes, a harem can have absolutely heartwarming scenes with the heroines, I even expect those. But "regular romance", where we see how the people slowly fall for each other, test the waters and and so on... Even I accept that the heroines are just in love with the protagonist pretty quickly, for more or less well-defined reasons.
