There's so many things happening, gonna skim through them all
If I went into detail it'd take forever (and a wall-o-text)
Chapter 073 summary
first half
Spoiler:
Minori and Roe2 side:
Roe2 is amused at Minori's decision to prioritize talking with her over joining the fight.
She summons her Pale Horse, and shows its true power - ability to fly.
Roe2 tells Minori that she will vow an oath to protect who she considers her little sisters and brothers.
She reveals to her that she's a race called World Travellers, and she is the first of her kind to side with them.
She keeps talking in her usual sci-fi jargon talk, about how element clusters such as nations, planet, and milky way tends to seek results instead of means, blah blah.
Most of it is incomprehensive to Minori (and the readers).
She says at times such concepts produce tragedy. Such as what destroyed the Alvs. Logical fallacy grown to expand beyond individual capacity may one day destroy the world.
As Minori expresses that she doesn't understand what Roe2 is saying, she comments on the limited protocols restricting human expression. But despite such mundane communication, "Empathium" can transmit between them. Her race is suffering from such resource.
(yes, I know none of that makes much sense, but that's how she speaks. Like a mix between Lt.Data and Geordi La Forge lol)
As Roe2 slay the Night Shades and Wyverns, Minori casts protection spells on landers and adventurers.
Roe2 declares to her little brothers and sisters of her vow.
She will not forsake them. The first friends she made in this world have expressed anger at this situation. The fallen princess who was forsaken ages ago is calling out from inside of her.
She summons the princess. It's a sword princess unlike any that adventurers have seen.
The goddess-like princess mimicks Roe2's movement, and plays her harp.
Nyanta side:
Nyanta tells Londark that the anguish he feels is not unique, it is felt by every living being.
For example, there is no place for reason for children who are born. Every world, regardless of which reality, is filled with the unreasonable.
And every pain and suffering felt are unique to each individual.
He realizes he cannot reason with Londark, as Londark does not consider himself part of the world.
As Londark prepares a massive spell, someone stabs him through the throat from behind.
It's Mizufa. The red haired lander general kicks Londark away as he dies.
She comments on how wonderful it must be to be an adventurer, free to kill and be killed as many times as you feel.
Every being living in the world kills with what they have. The strong will use their strength, and the weak will use their weakness as weapon.
Nyanta and Mizufa clash as they argue and fight. As she points out Nyanta's lack of intention to kill, enraged, he thrust for her throat.
But a man steps in between them, blocking Nyanta's thrust.
It's Nyanta's former teammate, Kazuhiko. An assassin and an ex-member of the Debouchery Tea Party.
Nyanta questions his motive for meddling in such horrible operation.
Kazuhiko was no longer the man he knew, with deep sadness, fury, and regret seen in his dark eyes.
Saved by Kazuhiko, Mizufa re-engages the fight with Nyanta.
She envies their strength, but says that generousity will be the fall of adventurers.
She provokes Nyanta by putting her own throat in the path of Nyanta's thrusts.
But Kazuhiko steps in again, and grabs and stops the sword with his hand.
Mizufa is upset for the interruption, but Kazuhiko tells her it's over, Nureha has ordered the cease of operatoin and retreat.
Unwilling to stop, Mizufa steps towards Nyanta and the werecat responds.
But Kazuhiko stops them by sending "Extermination", a powerful Assassin slash between the two.
The force of the slash was immense, clealry above the capability of an adventurer...!
He states he doesn't want to force Captain Nyanta to kill a lander.
second half
Spoiler:
Nureha's side:
Dariella walks through the town, as one wyvern spots her and dives from the air.
Without even looking at the wyvern, Dariella uses Astral Hypno to snare the wyvern in mid-air, causing it to crash to the ground.
The wyver lands on an Odyssea Knight druid, killing both of them.
Casting the spell causes Dariella's illusion spell to wear off.
She turns into a beautiful fox-tailed adventurer. It's Nureha.
Nureha walks down the street, and oddly, no one seems to notice her.
The landers, the Knights, wyverns, and even nightshades do not see her.
As she walks past them, she continues to snare left and right, causing death everywhere.
She is a CC (crowd control) specialist, and her build is called "The Freezer".
Nureha had no malicious intent when she approached the young Log Horizon members.
She was simply bored with the guild's mission, and jumped out of the armed vehicle to take a stroll on her own.
When she spotted the Log Horizon kids, she just wanted to tease them a little.
She also wanted to feel closer to Shiroe by interacting with the kids.
But unexpectedly, Tohya's observative comments saw right through her.
She realized these kids weren't just backgrounds to Shiroe, they were special on their own.
Roreil Dawn spots Nureha and runs up to her.
He tells her it's dangerous here, and to evacuate.
But she demands to know what's going on here, and what Mizufa is doing. These nightshades are obviously hers.
Roreil reports that this is part of Mizufa's plans. She acknowledges it without much interest.
She was never concerned about what motives Mizufa had, although she realizes they both have a similar goal.
Mizufa wants to become a queen of a nation by conquest. Nureha wanted a nation where she can be happy.
But that grumpy boy is here in this town. (Tohya) Does she want this town to burn to ashes around him?
The answer is obviously no.
Nureha is the queen. This is her land. She gives orders to Roleil to kill all the nightshades and wyverns.
As Roleil departs to obey his lady's commands, Nureha turns back to Dariella.
She speaks to Shiroe who is not there, that she wishes to help his children. She will do anything for him.
She hums a pop song as she strolls down the street, wishing to hear Shiroe's voice again.
Isuzu & Rudy side:
Isuzu plays her harp and uses her bard skill to snare the Nightshades as Rudy burns them with Orb of Lava.
As an Odyssea Knight falls to his death, two lander children despair for their inevitable doom.
Isuzu and Rudy helps the two escape. Isuzu feels helpless as her song cannot save everyone.
There are already casualties everywhere, many landers are likely already dead.
But she realizes this is the best she can do. She continues to sing with all her might.
It was Rudy that convinced her that her song is her own.
The moment the two joins up with Serara, the they witness a light from the heavens.
It's happening where Minori and Roe2 are. Tohya was still talking with the Knight near the two.
Unwilling to give up the kight to his sure death, Tohya continues to fight next to him.
Hearing their conversation, Isuzu, Rudy and Serara rush to join up with Tohya.
Isuzu overhears the Knight telling the kid to stop getting in his way, this is where he seeks to die.
She is enraged by the man's words, and decides to sing the "43rd song". The first song to be made by Isuzu.
It is a blessing to the world, the 43rd song God did not create. More songs such as this needs to spread to the world.
As Roe2 and Minori rejoins with the team, Isuzu begins her song.
The world around them was filled with rainbow colored notes.
Pebbles on the ground start floating up, dancing, and started defending everyone from attacks and magic.
The song reaches everyone.. helpless landers and Knights crying like homesick babies.
After the battle:
The Log Horizon members decide to leave the town the day after the battle ended.
Their original goal to gather mats for the Magic Bag has been fulfilled by slaying the wyverns.
The northern part of the town was destroyed, and dozens of lander lives were lost.
It was much like Rudy's own town - which is now under ashes as well.
The next morning after the battle, the group part ways with Roe2 and Dariella.
The group wishes her well, and Serara hugs the big sister.
Roe2 hands a letter to Minori, and asks her a favor. Then departs, with a short "seeya".
The kids were sure they will see her again.
Dariella was not close to the children as much, and departed with a short farewell.
Only Tohya had a strange look to him.
Rudy later teases Tohya, telling him you are going to miss her, you liked her didn't you?
But Tohya told Rudy how Dariella's nails were jagged, it was obvious she bit her nails in pain.
Tohya, being the observative one, notices she is suffering from something.
By the time the group got ready to leave, it was afternoon.
It was Rudy's idea to leave the town as soon as possible. He was afraid the landers may blame the adventurers for Odyssea Knight's actions.
Although the knights did save many lives, and the disaster would have been way worse if they were not here to fight, he realizes not everyone can be reasonable or logical.
It's easy for the weak to depends on the strong. Concerned that his friends may be hurt by words, he urged the team to leave as soon as possible.
As they get ready to depart, a griffon flies down. Serara runs to meet with the rider.
Others follow, except for Isuzu and Rudy. They hear a song, sang by children nearby.
It was her song.
Her song was not helpless or meaningless. It will likely travel west from here, spreading through Yamato.
Isuzu bursts out in tears, and Rudy hands her a handkerchief.
Isuzu's song sang in the town of Sapphille is the world and Isuzu's birthday song.
End of volume.
