Well I just went through Otome's route. Indeed there's more angst there, but this time

it was concentrated soley on Otome (whose tears came out in droves towards the end).

Unfortunately my lack of Japanese proficiency kept me in the dark as to what's really going on. My only clues are

that Grandpa Asakura (aka Junichi) imparted something to Otome, who's reluctant about it, and then - Otome killing the Magical Sakura tree! (and that's when Otome really broke down in tears)

Incidentally, I also managed to unlock the D.C. story, and it seemed to me there's more to it going on there like

the scene with Otome talking to Sakura about magic, then apparently Otome wasn't satisfied with what Sakura said and ended up crying.
