For my opinions, suggestions and speculations of the future of Wolf and Spice, the following event below are required.
-Horo and Lawrence’s relationship is strong
-Chloe has already met Horo


1) Chloe

Spoiler for Part 1:

With the camera panning on Chloe’s tits and sexy legs and the “I’ve grown without you even noticing” part in anime episode 1, if taking that dialog in a sexual way it’s pretty obvious Chloe have feelings for Lawrence and wants his babies.

With Horo’s intervention, it will definitely hinder Chloe’s by a lot and lots of jealousy because Lawrence is spending more time with Horo. The possible cause of action for Chloe is as followed:

a) Love Triangle/Friendly Rivalry
Until Lawrence and Horo made puppies together, Chloe still have a chance. Chloe will time to time tag along with Horo and Lawrence and will do her very best to impress Lawrence and outdo Horo, with humorous/disastrous results. Of course it won’t hurt for her to hear Horo’s advice occasionally. Being both female, both Chloe and Horo can get to do some girl stuff and girl talk (Lawrence not allowed lol), they can understand each other better and topics on what’s so good about Lawrence (lol).

b) Calls the Church on Horo
Chloe’s jealousy level will be bloody high that Chloe plays dirty. This will effectively make her on the bad guys’ camp and whatever’s left of Lawrence’s relation with Chloe will crash down to hell and he will hate her for it, which is completely opposite of what Chloe wanted. Reconciliation is still possible but it will be extremely difficult.

c) Chloe x Horo yuri
Hiiiiighly unlikely. But hey, it doesn’t hurt to dream. But that will leave Lawrence rather lonely. (lol)

2) Horo being captured by the Church

Spoiler for Part 2:

With or without Chloe’s help, given Horo’s nature and status, if she is captured by the Church, it is a death sentence, preferably by burning at the stake. Of course they will not immediately execute her; they will surely know that there are more around the country that are like Horo. The church will interrogate Horo behind closed doors by whatever means necessary, be it through torture or by rape a.k.a. holy ritual etc. (anything is possible behind closed doors) The Church will learn of Horo’s weakness, mainly the wheat, they may know more of her weakness provided if they dig the dirt deep enough on Horo.

Whether Horo can transform into her giant wolf form by drinking her own blood is debatable, but in my opinion I say it’s unlikely. If she can transform, it’ll be good for her and she’ll level the Church in less than 10 minutes (or she can drink other people’s blood, namely the people in the church by biting their dick off should they decide to do oral on Horo lol)

Should Horo remain silent despite the inquisition and her weakness used against her, the Church will op for Plan B: Take Lawrence into custody and make Horo talk by torturing Lawrence right in front of her. The option is branched out as follows:

a) Lawrence betrays Horo in order to escape torture by telling everything.
This is by the worse thing Lawrence will ever do, human nature, the fear of torture and possible death and the instinct to survive is what drives Lawrence into this actions. But by doing so it destroys Horo’s heart and trust in Lawrence. Lawrence will most likely be freed, but left with a heavy guilt in his heart. And possible retribution will strike on Lawrence.

b) Lawrence endures torture but finally gives in
This is much less severe that option 2a, again human nature, the fear of torture and possible death and the instinct to survive will make Lawrence confess. Unlike 2a, Horo will forgive him, knowing that he tried his best to defend her. Horo will feel some pain and guilt seeing Lawrence hurt considering the strong relationship between them. Lawrence will be freed/thrown out of the church, gravely injured.

c) Lawrence dies in torture
This is a sad option; Lawrence’s faithfulness to Horo cost him his life, causing Horo to go on a mad rage/extreme sadness and will blame herself for his death. Now what will happen if Lawrence’s blood splattered on Horo’s face upon his death? (lol)

d) Lawrence survives torture.
The ideal option; Lawrence won’t talk, no matter how painful the torture the Church dishes out. But it’ll be painful for Horo to watch on a daily basis.
i) Horo may come clean in order to end Lawrence’s torture and free him from custody
ii) Horo continues to watch Lawrence getting tortured until the Church gets fed up.

Whatever the options, the Church can’t keep Horo in the church forever and she will be taken to be execution site to be burned. If the option is 2dii, Lawrence will be executed along with Horo.

3) Wolf and Execution Day

Spoiler for Part 3:

Knowing Horo’s weakness, the Church will definitely order that all wheat in town will burned and import of wheat in town be banned until Horo is toasted for good under the burning stake. Lawrence is banned from entering town. (unless 2dii occurs) The road to the execution site will be humiliating and unpleasant as civilian will throw stuff at Horo. (Rotten vegetable, eggs, stone etc) Friends and Acquaintances of Lawrence and Horo may arrive to watch helplessly, or are they?

a) If 2a/2b/2di occurs
Lawrence comes to Horo’s rescue, either by sneaking in with friends’ help and secretly smuggles wheat into town. As long there is wheat, Horo will live and be able to move to the said wheat without people knowing. When the fire burns furious, it will be the time Horo make her move to the wheat and makes her escape.

In 2a case, Lawrence seeks redemption. But Horo can no longer trust Lawrence again. Reconciliation is still possible, but extremely difficult.

In 2b and 2di, the bonding between Lawrence and Horo will become even stronger.

But whatever the case, should the church finds out that Horo escapes; she will be hunted till the end of the world.

b) 2dii occurs or Lawrence tries to rescue Horo but get caught instead.
If Lawrence get caught trying to save Horo, he’ll surely be known as a heretic and be burned along with Horo. There are many possibilities if this happens. The wheat could have already been smuggled, then Horo teleport and transforms to save Lawrence and escapes.

If Chloe is in the picture, be it to save her rival/friend (1a) or redemption (1b) or just save Lawrence alone (1b: If Chloe still hates Horo). Whatever the reason doing so will make Chloe an enemy of the Church and will be hunted down. If Chloe seeks redemption (1b), she will be forgiven by Lawrence but there will still be some distance between them. If Chloe hates Horo and save Lawrence alone and never smuggle wheat into town, Lawrence will helplessly watch Horo die, while still hating Chloe.

c) Without wheat smuggled
There are 2 parts to this

i) If 3a occurs.
Horo have to pray for a miracle, otherwise, she is as good as dead. The most plausible miracle will be rain, which will kill off the fire. Lawrence can use this situation that ‘God’ is showing mercy towards Horo and he can rouse the public to demand the Church to free Horo.

ii) If 3b occurs.
It will be similar to 3a, whether it’s by Chloe, or by friends of Lawrence and Horo.

Either way, the Church will be pressured to release the captive(3). But it is certain that the Church will not let this go quietly.

There is part 4 of the speculation, I’m tired and I’ll just stop here. Pardon my mindless babbling

Part 4 of my gloomy speculation

4) The difficult road to Yoitsu

Spoiler for part 4:

After the event of 2 & 3, there is no doubt the bonds between the 2 strengthens (If it’s choice 2a, Lawrence will have a lot of sucking up to do and if Horo is in a VERY forgiving mood).

a) In the event of 3a/b
Should the Church finds out that Horo is still alive, wanted posters will be post all over cities/towns as long it’s within their influence. Trading will prove dangerous and should they get caught again they will be killed. Luck, a clever disguise and Horo’s wisdom and supernatural ability will be put to the test for survival. If that fails, they must escape town, or be surrounded by soldiers, which they must fight their way out.

In the event of a fight, while Lawrence can take care of himself if needed to, he’ll have to rely on Horo to do most of the work because soldiers are more trained in terms of combat than Lawrence. Ironically Lawrence is also Horo’s weakness in a fight but this weakness is double edged. Kill Lawrence and Horo will either lose her will to fight or go berserk and level the city.

If they manage to survive the fight and escape, guards and soldiers in the cities and towns elsewhere will be on high alert, patrols between cities/town would be more frequent, making trading for Lawrence and Horo more perilous. They can’t keep on fighting the guards forever every time they get caught and sooner or later they may die from the wounds they receive from battle if there is no proper treatment, most commonly Lawrence.

But if they are willing to take the risk in order to earn a living, so be it. Or they can just stay/travel within the forest and let Horo hunt for food. (lol)

b) In the event of 3c
Horo and Lawrence can go from places to places freely, but not without at least a decent disguise.

If they are found out, soldiers cannot to anything to them because of the event of 3c. But that does not stop them from making the duo’s lives difficult, which can affect Lawrence's trading, and income. The civilians may also look at the two with unwelcoming eyes, especially towards Horo. Given her wisdom and supernatural ability, Horo can outsmart them easily but still she cannot be too complacent as there will be times Horo will be caught off guard.

As for the Church, like I said before they will not let this go quietly and will hire assassins/thugs to do the job. Like the fight situation mention in 4a, Horo will be doing most of the work, while Lawrence trying to hold on his own. If it happens inside the city/town, they must try to avoid collateral damage to the properties around them, as this can be an excuse against Lawrence and Horo that they are causing trouble. If it’s an open area like along the road or in a forest, it will be less restricted, but the soldiers maybe added with the group of hired hands or increase the numbers of the hired against them.

Whatever the case, there will be spies (possibly hired by the church) to monitor Horo and Lawrence’s movement maybe to achieve a certain goal: the location of Yoitsu.

c) Plans when they reach Yoitsu
Once they finally reach Yoitsu, what’s next? If Horo decides to settle down, will Lawrence and Horo part ways? After going through thick and thin together, can they bear to separate from each other? Lawrence can stay in Yoitsu, but what is there for him since this place is nothing but an ancient ruin? Lawrence can op for setting up a shop in a city/town near Yoitsu so Horo can visit him from time to time, but what if he doesn’t have enough wealth by the time he reaches Yoitsu.

If Horo’s stay in Yoitsu is temporary and decides to continue traveling with Lawrence it would be most ideal, especially for Lawrence. However the road to Yoitsu is still long and they still have time to plan on what to do before reaching there.

Yes, while I love 'Wolf and Spice' as a standalone package, I love to look at the series beyond the package then add it in.

Example. adding generic harem genre or Wolf and Spice in a modern setting or settle economic dispute WITH YOUR FIST! (ATATATATATATATATA~!)

I choose the darker, angst path. Not only because I like the doom and gloom feel, it's also because it fits so perfectly with the influence of Christianity and heresy during its time.
