The wrist brace is because I fell rollerblading.. Shattered my elbow (no cast) and fractured my wrist.. But because they wanted me to keep using my elbow (so it'd heal workable) they couldn't put a heavy cast on my wrist.. So I just wore my wrist pads. Irony at its best.
