From Vita's comment it seems that they are on regular simple mission kinda, probably decided to split off and Nanoha happen to be the one with bad luck or she is underestimating them/Nanoha end up protecting her from attacks.
That's why she went all out that time after having flashback so not to repeat the same thing.
