I don't about other people I never noticed how big the plot hole in Chobits until very recently and let me explain you:

Hideki found Chii in pile of garbage not far from his apartment

...And then the revelation:

It turned out the apartment owner, Ms Hibiya is the "mother" of Chii. She also the one who authored a mysterious book which helped Chii to uncover her human side

...And of course the biggest plot hole in the show, which most of you missed:

How did Chii ends up in a pile of trash? Did Ms Hibiya stalked Hideki and put Chii there in hope of Hideki will recover her? Even if she WANTS Hideki to recover Chii and pile of trash right beside the alleyway is not a good location since there are too many looters will recover Chii first before Hideki can. Abandoning Chii in such place is too risky for Ms Hibiya as anyone else can uncover Chii and Hibiya's secrets since Chii(and her "twin sister" Freya) was built with top secret technologies that only her, her deceased husband, her company and perhaps the Japanese government itself only knows about.

I wish CLAMP can re-write Chobits and fill most of its plot holes but too bad CLAMP already said to us they had enough with Chobits and let the franchise dead for good(of their own).
