You also have to consider that Mana and Setsuna have been exposed to situations and training that other mages aren't accustomed to.
I mean, Setsuna has been protecting Konoka and playing bodyguard to her since she was at
least five, at the youngest; and on Mana's end, we know that by the time she was ten or so (possibly younger) she'd already Pactio'd with someone and continued to be a badass after he died.
