True. It would appear only US fans designate Kira as Jesus.
But that has some basis, because Kira supposedly died in several occasions, only to be revived at a later time, becoming more powerful to boot.

In some Japanese and Taiwanese fandom, Kira is 'appropriately' designated as '魔王 (maou)' aka 'The Devil'
