Spoiler for Tamayura 01 - Tamayura the Origination:
Series that follow a four kana name pattern are generally guaranteed to be pretty good. (K-ON!, Kanamemo, Yuru Yuri). This is of course a completely arbitrary standard to measure things on, but I needed an angle for this first post.
I caught up on the OVA duology (quadrology?) within the past week, in order to make sure I didn't miss out on any important characterization for the series. It was a wise choice. Though I completely misestimated the time, not realizing it was tonight instead of tomorrow afternoon, which leaves Ika as really the only thing I have on Mondays, and that doesn't really have much to do with what I'm supposed to be talking about.
So, the first episode. Mostly done en flashback, showing us how Fuu got to Takekura (or returned, as the case may be) and a brief exploration of her old pal Chihiro. The strengths were held up here. The scenery is lovely, the mood leaves you feeling calm, and the characters are a lot of fun. Fuu's the most Azunyan like role Ayana Taketatsu's had for a long time.
The OP and ED are mostly montages of photographs, but considering the theme of the series, would anything else fit? Other series may come and go, but I have a feeling this one is going to be leaving the longest lasting impression on me.
