And yes while she does help the boys somewhat with her cosmos from time to time, in the end she's always in need of rescuing. only during the final part of the hades arc do you see her get involved in the battle.

I actually used to not care about her until the final arc or Hades , and now the Next Dimension , where she actually does something , Plus she cut her hair , making her look better , but that's just me =D
