What I don't understand is why they went that route and not just destroy synthetics in that era. In Warhammer 40K, robots rebelled against humanity which led to humanity destroying robots and banning AI outright.
That's how I interpreted...I thought maybe their creator created them to stop the killing all together, but maybe the AI took a more literal meaning to their programming and therefore they unwillingly became the first reapers...It can be interpreted different ways though...
