What're you talking about? Why don't you volunteer to help edit since you're so free?
Ryuji is miles behind Kyon, I'll give you that. While he tries not to cross Taiga, he doesn't do it completely out of fear, more like out of an urge to keep things calm. And he certainly doesn't put up with all the bullshit she may occasionally pull, this is where his "Kyon-like" monologues come in.
