Even as a blow against Americanism its somewhat of a goofy move. One of the more public figures who was present at the Marathon was Carlos Arredondo, a prominent anti war protester. Another was former Patriots offensive lineman Joe Andruzzi, a cancer survivor who sponsored a team at that Marathon for a cancer research foundation.

As warped as 9/11 was, the attackers could make some kind of twisted justification for the targets they picked. The World trade centers were the economic headquarters for "american imperialism", and the Pentagon is a military target. Deliberately attacking something more people associate with charity is pretty warped.





edit: It would appear that the second suspect is now in police custody.
