Mind you, Dan was afraid of a lot of things, especially afraid that he's snapping in front of Utsuho. Afraid of hurting her directly or indirtectly.
His paranoid is overboard, but understandable given what he experienced. After all, he's a 15 year old guy with a lot of doubt and dilemma. :|
