Interesting! So I guess that would mean he only quit within the last year? I guess I was kind of hoping it was longer than that so he would be on more equal levels with Taichi and Chihaya when he does start playing again (which I think is inevitable).
Although it's also possible Arata just never told Chihaya he quit because it hurt too much. Like others I am guessing it has something to do with his grandfather.
