To be fair, men are too simple of a creature sometimes. I know I shouldn't say that whilst being one myself, but a TON of males I see would fall for something like this. It's always "what can I have now" instead of "what will I have for the long run".
And don't get me wrong, there's plenty of smart ones out there that CAN think ahead and are loyal/trustworthy. You just have to be content with what you have, and Junichi probably faltered in that aspect.
