Everyone has off days or even off weeks. Lord knows Oh Great is still on one. Anyway, not every chapter is stellar. I mean, how many of us were even missing Gin when the Snow Village arc was going on? It's fine.
Besides, the thing with Season 1 was Tsukune trying to keep his humanity in the face of monsters. Now, it's something else. If anything, this might help Gin join the group against FairyTail since it shows how much of an influence FairyTail has in both the Youkai and Human Realms.
