This is up for speculation, but the answer is revealed in volume 6. You can ask at LN thread if you want.
And actually, Kirino's "I can't just walk away" is not just from pride, but responsibility. She feels responsible to those whom she had 'beaten' in order to reach here. If she gives up, she won't be able to to face those who weren't able to make it here.
I don't know if this line was in the anime or not, but her exact words were:
