The only speculation on Gen Fudo's identity was that he was the 3rd Aquarion pilot with Apollonius and Celiane. Something never confirmed or denied by him. But the OVA later released confirmed that

Reika was the reincarnation of that pilot.

He is and always has been an enigma concerning his past.
