In tank vs. tank engagements why do they have machine guns at all?
- IRL IMHO, Two purposes:
  1. Machineguns for getting rid of infantry around the tank/riding the tank or exposed tank commanders
  2. Potshots to get a tank's attention (how else do you get the attention of someone in a heavily armored vehicle with a loud engine?)
- It also depends on the type of machinegun. General-purpose machineguns in World War II (.30Cal or 7.92mm size ammo) are mainly used against infantry and vehicles like jeeps or trucks. Heavy Machineguns like the iconic Browning M2 (.50Cal) are for light armored vehicles and sometimes aircraft.

In GnP, I think it's mainly for the potshot factor than anything else.
