If it's novel material I want KyoAni to animate, it would be Haruhi and Full Metal Panic. Let the guys at J.C do their job. Judging from what has happened so far in the anime, I would say they did quite the decent job with adding in anime-original scenes and scenarios.
Making a few characters seem different and doing different things might serve to make the anime into 'something different' from the original content, which can or might present itself in a different view in accordance with the viewers, especially those who have been following the novels, of which I remember it as being pretty hot in Japan.
