I'm surprised no one mentioned Ah! My Goddess. Its pretty decent and its definitely my fav romance anime. You just gotta be VERY patient about the relationship between the two main character though. Their romance progress pretty slowly.
Ai Yori Aoshi is more on the serious side but you'll get to see plenty of 'love' between the main characters. And if you're looking for something more hilarious, try Karin, DearS or Tokimeki Memorial ~Only Love~. Mamoru-kin ni Megami no Shukufuku wo! is also slowly becoming my fav romance/comedy anime.
