Correct. I was watching some playthroughs thereof on YouTube, and that was just one thing that didn't do the game any favors. It would be interesting to see how the devs rationalized this omission.

Curious. I checked out
Gamespot's ghost playthrough; one thing they point out is that unconscious guards falling to their death (i.e. sliding off a roof) or getting devoured by rat packs
do count as kills - something like that might have happened without your being aware of it.
