The part where Kanon admitted his crush was cut out (it was the part where he was telling Shannon not to accept George's ring--only that was shown and the whole 'baww i wanna become human and learn to love' bit was snipped). Unless DEEN can somehow slip that little detail into the next episode then it will certainly seem one-sided. But he's definitely crushing on Jessica.

I have little doubts in my mind that Kanon had a rough childhood, whether it was in the orphanage or beforehand, and probably is trying to protect himself from being hurt but also trying to protect others from it--which potentially explains why he rejected Jessica so harshly. If he didn't lock away his emotions so much, he would probably be really sweet and caring.
Basically, to me he's a kuudere.
