Because game operates with server which hold code and such things + your brain being the controller, your brain can't function 24/7 without sleep.
As for episode, finally watched with subs to see if I missed anything, and Argo indeed did say that Kirito trained like crazy for event boss, sadly they skipped the actual training which was written at novels, but atleast it was mentioned.
