This episode was something I'd been waiting for since the show started, Izumiko's first real brush with something really big and potentially dangerous. (Wamiya was dangerous, too, but at least he wasn't Kuzuryuu...)
I expected Manatsu to come back, but it was still a relief that he was saved. He and Mayura are my favorite characters in this show, too bad that their role seems to be mostly over. I expect from next week we'll either start the actual plot, and/or start delving into the whole business with Miyuki and Yukimasa. (I wonder if what the himegami told Kuzuryuu was foreshadowing.)
The revelations were interesting - so apparently Masumi is not a ghost, he's one of Kuzuryuu's heads taken human form, a la Wamiya... And Manatsu seems to be aware of this, so I don't quite understand what he intended to do in the first place. He wanted to be absorbed into Kuzuryuu? But how would that guarantee that he could stay with Mayura in spirit form? Also, if Masumi is not "connected" to Manatsu with the Power of Twins/Triplets, I don't quite understand how the two of them are supposed to balance each other, as Mayura said... Did I miss something? Anyway, I wonder how this incident will affect Mayura and Manatsu. And Masumi too.
Btw, "it's like a snake" - have you ever seen a snake's eye, Izumiko?
(OK, it's the animators' fault.)
Also, apparently the himegami is currently possessing Izumiko's mom because Izumiko is not strong enough yet to deal with her on her own?
By the way, Izumiko's mom was a letdown. Appears out of nowhere, is totally cool, dresses like some adventurer, saves the day, disappears into the forest... she even puts on sunglasses, ffs. -_-) I wouldn't mind something like this in a more lighthearted anime, but she felt really out of place here. Oh well, at least I heard Paku Romi, it's been a while.
Also, the episode was cut off by the ED at a really weird point, there was no real closure at all... :/ The post-ED segment was interesting in that the crow a few episodes earlier was really Wamiya - so that's why Miyuki had wings, I was worried he just manifested them out of nowhere by the Rule of Cool. I could've lived without the whole "so you're into that type" thing... I don't know about the novel, but the anime's way of handling the romance is still boring and clichéd.
