Personally, I don't mind SHAFT not doing the first trip down to Library Island, given how:
a. it's already been covered in the original series;
b. it's more of a Love Hina-esque tale than a fantasy/action tale (with the ending having "Love Hina" written all over it).
I'm sure Library Island will be covered later on in the series, especially if they keep certain manga elements in the new series.
