nami is a suspected whispered who specializes in AS kind of like leonard. the general plot was souske had a lead which led him to this town which has a lot of AS battles, and since he needed money and somewhere to stay while he investigated this lead on kaname (some lower level amalgam guys). he helped nami by piloting her team's AS which competed in gladiator type matches and they started to make a name for themselves as they always won with souske's superior skills and nami's custom AS. nami and souske got together very well because they had much in common and could easily talk together about AS and such. in the end, amalgam caught on and figured out who souske was and they wanted to kill off souske so they kidnapped nami and forced him to chase after her hoping they could kill him off using their numerous AS vs. his single one. in the end souske catches up with nami, but the amalgam guy kills her off just for fun and escapes, and souske later catches up and kills him.

the general idea was that if it were under any other circumstances, ie, amalgam not catching on, nami and souske were supposed to be happy together because they complimented each other so well and nami loved him and it was just unfortunately for her, she was killed and souske realized what his real purpose for going there in the first place was for kaname.

yes this is a very good description of the Sousuke and Nami relationship

but one thing you missed out on was that

even while Nami was alive Sousuke was feeling bad about being happy in that situation with her while Kaname was a prisoner and he realises that even though himself and Nami get on so well he still missed Kaname and still wanted to get her back no matter what.
