Yeah, that's a good point about he time paradox. So the second choice would indeed be better. But if Kazuya and the others do defeat the Sovereign Novas here, wouldn't that stop the war before it happens? Or maybe they can somehow do it in a way that avoids a time paradox big/serious enough to destroy Earth, although I'm not sure if they'd even consider that. They aren't science buffs or anything. But either way, hopefully they can find present-day Maria and ask her how to save Earth.

Good catch about Lucy. It certainly is quite possible that LDY was throwing in this plot-point way early that time. Kudos to him if so.
