that si the bad thing about the dvd player yes, it isnt because of the dvd player but because of the size of the thing you play, i sually solve it by pressing on the zom button of my television remote, that way i can set it a little more squeshed together (not as in a wide screen that verticalle and horizentally stuff looks out of order aka: wide and short) but enough to see the subs below it
