[ViewtifulAlchemist]

Playing catchup to my backlog of stuff...this is a series that caught my interest only because Mina looked like Rachel Alucard from BlazBlue which is a fighting game I was quite heavy into at the time of this anime's announcement and Rachel was my favorite from that game.

Anyways, yeah looks like it was a series worth watching. I was weary of the whole 12 episode deal knowing it was based off a manga so I was expecting a poor ending but I was not disappointed. The way it ended I wish more 12-13-ish anime series ended like that. It can go either way with another season or just that just be the end of it which would be fine in itself so you're left with some closure at least.

I felt kind of sorry for Yuki in the series, I'm not sure how much of a role she plays in the manga but she was reduced to the typical standby/outside storyteller role in the anime. Kind of sucks because I thought she was a nice character in the earlier episodes. Meiren was also awesome but from what I've glance at earlier in this thread she was a filler character so her fate was doomed at the beginning, oh well.

I really like theme the series pushed about how living an eternity is like an endless river flow and how one emotion could make that eternity more bearable. While it was mainly for the Yuzuru/Nanami relationship, thinking back on that it really drove home how strong the relationship between Mina and Akira was in the end and was way more fitting considering everything Mina had to go through over the years and her future responsibilities.

Watching Mina make those 3 a-holes bow down to her in the end was glorious.

Nice series even if not the best, it filled my vampire void for a while. Maybe I'll check out the manga to see what I miss/what was changed.
