With the MC drifting in space at the end of an intense duel (during which two high-spec mechas were battered to death - and the final move was a stabbing attack), and his friends/allies looking for him. And then, wham, the end.

And, of course, no proper epilogue/ending until the DVD release (at least, in Gundam SEED's case; not sure whether Majestic Prince will enjoy a similar treatment).

But to reassure you, this episode's death count is ridiculously short.
