So the last paragraph gives me the impression they are magic side extremists out to destroy science. Especially like it says Science became the Victor. Since Touma stopped Fiamma the magic side lost. Maybe Gremlin is made of Fiamma supporters. Since Touma stopped Fiamma their goals were destroyed and they wanna kill him.
