I'm all for the
show don't tell rule when romance is concerned. I prefer to see
how instead to be told
why. In my opinion they decided to give this kind of settings to focus (or because the focus is) on the other aspects of the show. I share the same doubts of Gohan78 on the matter, but I'll be glad to be proven wrong if that's the case.
